Born to Run Review

This book is a must read for any endurance athlete...great stories, great insight into the life's and mind's of some pretty amazing runners. It also shares and analyzes a lot of highly respected opinions on the art of running, including the fast-approved notion that using barefoot runs as part of the training can help prevent injuries and reinforce the best form for each individual, which in turn helps prevent injuries.

It is hard to believe but really inspiring to read and learn about the "Raramuri", also called the Tarahumara tribe and "The Running People". It is simply hard to believe that such culture exists, I will not go into further details so that you can better enjoy the book, just know that these people are fast runners while doing long-distance trails...Some have already won the Leadville 100 without breaking a sweat and in the trail-running world the Raramuri are idolized...simply said, a rare breed with super-human athletic abilities.

After reading this book you will definitely put on your snickers, sandals, 5 fingers or nothing at all and go on one of those uplifting trail adventures....I know I will.

Random Clustered Thoughts

Very happy for my friends who performed with awesome style at Kona.

I guess if I keep training with them and can sort of match their intensity things will go well in Cozumel.

If I can learn from their experiences maybe I will jump a few steps that otherwise would have delayed my improvement.

Last week I was off on a business trip and training suffered but the time out was good for recovery.

Both of my kids have a cold and I am battling hard not to get knocked down...feeling shitty this week.

Pool workouts have been very sporadic but I am loving the few times I am able to jump in the pool and making the most of it.

End of the year training is the toughest...and next week will be tough with a lot of work.

Trying to find a good balance.

My head hurts.
